Villages
Belvaux

A small village in the Calestienne region, Belvaux is made up of houses built from local stone. It also features typical limestone grasslands where rare plant varieties bloom. The name Belvaux itself evokes 'beautiful valley,' which speaks to the beauty of the place!
And within this village, you'll find the Caracolis. This nickname, still used today to refer to the inhabitants of Belvaux, originates from snail farming, a prominent economic activity in the region during the 19th century. Speaking of which, during one of the region's marked walking trails, on the banks of the Lesse, you'll discover a sculpture of the Caracolis created by Stéphane Renard.
